Historical analysis of links, extending html 5, and the Yahoo MS Merger – Monday Sept 6th Roundup

Wow, its September already. This week end is labour day weekend here, so we’re all off work. Fortunately we have a roundup anyways.

This week we’ve got a historical analysis of links, extending html 5, and the merger of Yahoo and Microsoft.

• We start the week with a new blog, Wordyard, and their recent post on links, and how money changes everything.
• It’s a lazy Monday, so here’s something I don’t usually like to post: 3 tips for effective ‘link luv’. Ugh, a number, and a misspelling. Still, the advice is correct: articles, social media, and video marketing are great ways to gain links.

• Two from Ajaxian this week, first a tutorial on extending HTML 5.
• Next up the “quick and easy way to get into YUI”, SimpleYUI.

• Instead of analytics blog posts this week I’ve decided to link to two Google Documentation guides. First off, how to output data from the GA API.
• Next, filling in missing values from date requests.

• Is your website trustworthy? Michael has released his trustworthiness checklist.
• E-nor has some guidelines to mobile usability and… well… I can’t say I actually agree with them persay. They say limit content, limit screen size to 250px, and other things that I am unsure I support. Still, it’s worth reading.

• GetElastic has a wonderful example of the kind of price gouging that drives me insane. They noticed that it costs twice as much to upgrade McAfee anti virus as to buy a new version through a reseller.
• Yahoo has announced that its time to begin account transitions. That’s it, we’re back to two main search engines. Ugh.
