Cardinal Path’s Associate Director, Data Science & Engineering, Nathaniel Payne has been tapped to facilitate the face-to-face working sessions for the Information Technology Association of Canada’s (ITAC) Data Science & Analytics Steering Committee.
As part of his contriubtion, Payne developed preliminary National Occupational Standards (NOS) which will be refined through the work of the committee.
“I’m honored to be part of this team and tasked with producing the Data Science & Analytics NOS and LO/CS for ITAC”, says Payne.
The NOS standards set the job requirements for various positions that graduates from Business Technology Management (BTM) programs in Canadian universities may pursue while focusing on careers in Data Science & Analytics. BTM programs are offered in 14 universities across Canada, and the ITAC’s goal is to expand the program to 50 universities within three years. When completed & fully published, these standards will impact both the curriculum taught and the hiring practices and job descriptions at thousands of Canadian ICT (Information and Communications Technology) firms who are looking to hire Data Science & Analytics graduates.
Creating the Data Science & Analytics standards is a key part of the education, development, and governance work that is done yearly by the ITAC.
The ITAC is Canada’s national ICT business association, and is responsible for championing the development of a robust and sustainable digital economy in Canada. A prominent advocate for the expansion of Canada’s innovative capacity, the ITAC encourages technology adoption to capitalize on productivity and performance opportunities across all sectors. A member-driven not-for-profit organization, ITAC has served as the authoritative national voice of the $150 billion ICT industry for 60 years. More than 33,500 Canadian ICT firms create and supply goods and services that contribute to a more productive, competitive, and innovative society.
